La Mélodie acide is one of the most poetic creations by Joan Miró, made in collaboration with the French surrealist writer Patrick Waldberg. Published in Paris in 1980 by Galerie Lucie Weill / Au Pont des Arts, the work brings together fourteen original colour lithographs and Waldberg’s text, forming a lively dialogue between image and language.

Printed by La Polígrafa, Barcelona, and Fequet et Baudier, Paris, the portfolio reveals Miró’s characteristic sense of harmony, rhythm, and imagination. The title, La Mélodie acide, suggests both energy and clarity — a sharp yet lyrical balance between colour, space, and movement.

The fourteen lithographs create a visual sequence that echoes the tempo of Waldberg’s poetry. Each composition blends bright tones of red, blue, yellow, green, and black into balanced arrangements that feel musical and spontaneous. Rather than illustrating the poems directly, Miró transforms their emotion and rhythm into abstract visual form, allowing image and text to resonate together.

This copy, no. 111/150, belongs to the deluxe edition that includes a fifteenth lithograph, hand-signed by the artist on Japon Nacré. Listed in Cramer Books 248, it stands as a refined union of poetry and art — a celebration of sound, colour, and imagination in perfect harmony.
