Silence is perhaps the most direct and meditative title in Miró’s Haï-Ku series. The work reflects Miró’s ability to create meaning through restraint. Like a haiku poem, it depends not on detail but on suggestion, space, and rhythm. Miró had been fascinated by poetry for decades, and his mature works often function as visual poems without words. In this lithograph, the title invites the viewer to experience the composition slowly, as something quiet but not empty. The forms, marks, and colors become signs suspended in space. Rather than representing silence literally, Miró gives it a visual presence: concentrated, delicate, and contemplative.
