Pablo PICASSO - Jacqueline en Espagnole - La flûte double

Pablo PICASSO (1881–1973)
Jacqueline en Espagnole
from La Flûte Double, Au Vent d'Arles, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, 1967
A two-colour Jacomet process print after an original drawing by Pablo Picasso dated 2 October 1955, depicting Jacqueline Roque, Picasso’s wife and most important late muse, rendered with the artist’s characteristic economy of line and expressive use of wash.
Published in 1967 as part of the celebrated portfolio La Flûte Double, edited by Hélène Parmelin and issued by Au Vent d'Arles, this work belongs to a series of pochoirs produced after Picasso’s drawings, watercolours and wash drawings. The sheet is signed in the plate in green at lower right and bears the original date inscription “Dimanche 2 octobre 55” at lower left.
Provenance
Collection of Tachia and Charles Rozoff, Paris.
Tachia Rozoff (née Tachia Quintanar, Spain, 1929) was a poet and actress who settled in Paris after leaving Francoist Spain. Together with her husband Charles Rozoff, she became an active figure within the post-war Parisian intellectual and artistic milieu. Their home served as a meeting place for artists, writers and musicians from Europe and Latin America. Tachia Rozoff is also known for her documented relationship with Gabriel García Márquez during the 1950s.
