Pablo PICASSO - Portrait of Jacqueline in Profile - La flûte double

from the Double Flute suite (La Flûte Double)
Au Vent d'Arles, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, 1967
A two-colour Jacomet process print after an original drawing by Pablo Picasso dated 4 May 1955. The composition depicts Jacqueline Roque in profile, one of Picasso's most celebrated late muses, rendered with remarkable simplicity and elegance through fluid brushwork, subtle wash tones and a highly refined linear structure.
Published in 1967 as part of the portfolio La Flûte Double, edited by Hélène Parmelin and issued by Au Vent d'Arles, the work belongs to a suite of pochoirs produced after Picasso's drawings, watercolours and wash drawings executed between 1932 and 1955.
The sheet is signed in the plate at lower right and bears the original date 4.5.55 at upper left.
Provenance
Collection of Tachia and Charles Rozoff, Paris.
Tachia Rozoff (née Quintanar, Spain, 1929) was a poet and actress who settled in Paris after leaving Francoist Spain. Together with her husband Charles Rozoff she became part of the post-war Parisian intellectual and artistic milieu. Their collection reflects decades of engagement with artists, writers and musicians from Europe and Latin America and represents a documented Parisian provenance.
